1. Secure a speaker & topic
Your first choice would be your parish priest. From the councils I’ve seen, it’s great to re-engage the priests in the council activities, and the men will usually come out to hear/support their priests. Priests almost always have their own topic in mind, but the following websites offer some great spiritual topics geared to men.
- www.catholicmenofthecarolinas.org (<–Talks & Reflections section)
Our Core Team can help secure some fantastic laity speakers if needed.
2. Secure a date/venue.
Your Knights Hall or Parish Center would be great choices for a venue. As far as dates, many councils substitute a Men’s Forums in place of a social night. Another Grand Knight did an abbreviated business meeting and a Men’s Forum that night. Or, you can choose a separate date altogether.
3. Invite men & Contact Catholic Men’s Fellowship Core Team.
The Core Team will create an invitation through Eventbrite & send an e-mail blast to past Men’s Conference attendees near your area. You could also blast out to your Knights list and put an announcement in the Parish bulletin. Contact Len Kobylus at firstname.lastname@example.org to get on the “Men’s Forum” Calendar
4. Finalize Format & Order snacks (optional).
The typical format has been as follows:
After brief intro:
- Pray rosary (see resources)
- Reflection on Men’s spirituality from speaker
- Time for snacks & fellowship.
Typical forums last from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. with a 30-45 min talk. Some have modified format to include a Mass or Holy hour, but final format can be individualized.
